Pictures from a business trip to Shanghai, China to visit another of EA's studios that contributed to the release of Warhammer Age of Reckoning. It was a good trip and it was great to meet the team in Shanghai.

On a side note, aplologies for my lousy photography. I am very out of practice wielding a camera with anything approaching competence. I either need to practice alot more with my current camera or get one that is more idiot proof. :p Alot of my pictures were unsalavageable or I just forgot I had a camera and was enjoying the sights only remembering I should be taking pictures after the fact. Thankfully, one of the guys at the Shanghai studio was kind enough to share with me some of his artfully composed pictures of life in Shanghai.

Eddie Lu from the Shanghai studio gave me copies of some of his photographs and I have included a handful of his images of the city (because I have none that do his city justice). He is an exceptional photographer and I highly encourage you to go to FaceBook and visit his page where you can view many more of his great pictures of his home and his travels.

These first 9 pictures are all Eddie Lu's pictures of Shanghai.
Again, I encourage you to look his work up on his FaceBook page (search for Eddie Lu). It is well worth the time.

Alrighty... my questionable pictures of the Mythic Team's November '08 visit to the Shanghai studio...

Arrival at the Longemont hotel. Left to Right: Kurtis (Mythic), Patrick (EASH), Eddie (EASH), Jamus (Mythic), & Kevin (EASH).

Following my usual pattern of trip photos... the hotel room

more of the room

even more of the room

Hey look, the room again... with sofa

errr... more room, with big TV...

... ok, ok, last room pict... the important thing here is to note the bathtub... yep, the tub is setup so you can comfortably view the TV while soaking... guess how I spent the first evening because I couldn't sleep due to jet-lag and the gym closed at 11pm...

First morning of the trip. The view from my room looking out over the city. The size of the city is awe inspiring.

If I have an opportunity to visit again, I will bring a real video camera so I can share the experience of driving in Shanghai... an extended game of chicken kind of describes it. This picture is very early in the morning when the traffic was very light.

Our first lunch in the city. (Right to Left) Kurtis (Mythic), Chris (Mythic), and Kevin (EASH). This pretty much set the standard for all of our meals with the Shanghai studio... an over the top banquet of sampling anything and everything. I ate more parts of bird anatomy than even growing up in the south prepared me for. :p

Duck Tongue... 'nuff said

Walking to the studio.

'nother lunch at a restaraunt nearer the studio. I need to mention somewhere... Watermelon Juice rocks and somebody needs to start selling it in the States.

Kevin and Patrick taking care of ordering.

The Warhammer Concept Team in EASH. Left to Right: Hide, Allen, John, Max, and Allison.

We threw the Warhammer Launch Party for the China team at a Karaoke establishment in downtown Shanghai. I wish I had taken more shots of the room. It is very different from western Karaoke that I have experienced. Much more friendly and posh. No stage and everyone generally sings from their seat while viewing a large screen showing the words and video for the music. Above is Kevin opening the box containing the launch cake surrounded by the EA Shanghai Warhammer Team.

almost open...

ta-daaaa!

Patrick lighting the candle.

Chris doing the honor of making the first cut.

Eddie making sure everyone is being served with a slice of the cake which was quite tasty.

The Mythic Karaoke Ringer, Steve Chao. He single handedly kept the Mythic team looking good at the party. The boy can sing.

Jamus doing a Back Street Boys song... do I have to say any more... :)

Max impressing the hell out of me by singing a duet single handedly.

Chris preparing to do a little Elvis for the party.

On the way out of Shanghai at the Pudong Airport.

Our first plane to Tokyo. (Shanghai to Tokyo for 3hrs, Tokyo to Detroit for 12hrs, and Detroit to DC for 1:15hrs)

Back in the US of A... we stopped by EA Mythic when we got back to check in. Above is Mike Franchina (Mythic Concept Artist) wearing his new PLA Pilot's helmet that Jamus picked up for him our first day in China.
I think Mikey likes it. :)
